Danish 'brown' Christmas cookies (brunkager)

These Danish cookies get their color from brown sugar and warm spices. They're a classic during the festive season, with a delicious flavor and nice crunch. Perfect to add to any cookie plate.

Let’s get started!

Gather and mix the ingredients

01

You start by melting the butter, sugar and syrup together, then add in the dry ingredients.

Wrap and chill the dough before slicing

02

Form a log and chill the dough overnight. Then, cut into even slices

Lay slices on baking sheet

03

These cookies don't expand much so you don't need to worry about leaving large gaps

Bake!

04

Bake until they are dry but still slightly soft - keep an eye on them towards the end.

Perfect to enjoy during the festive season (or whenever you want to make an excuse!)
