¾fl ozgrenadinehomemade or real grenadine if at all possible
½fl ozegg white(½ oz is approx ½ an egg white)
1fl ozsoda waterapprox
Instructions
Place the gin, lemon juice, grenadine and egg white in a cocktail shaker and shake well without ice so that all of the ingredients are well combined.
Add ice (at least 4 - 6 good sized pieces) and shake again until the drink is well chilled. Strain into a glass and top up with soda water, around 1 - 2 oz (30-60ml).
Notes
If you prefer, you can skip the soda water addition for a gin fizz sour. If so, you may want to add a couple drops of bitters as garnish on top - angostura or orange bitters are best fit here. The quality of the gin and grenadine that you use here will make a difference - I highly recommend homemade grenadine if at all possible (it's easy to make!)You can use a range of glasses to serve this - coupe or rocks would work, as well as the sherry-style glass I used here. Some will limit how much soda you can add but that also depends on taste, too.
